Building a stronger business: RAE Build’s thriving apprenticeship scheme
Building a stronger business - RAE Build's thriving apprenticeship scheme - RAE Build

Staffordshire based construction company RAE Build is continuing its commitment to provide opportunities to young people through its highly successful apprenticeship scheme.

Since the company’s incorporation back in 1972, the apprenticeship scheme has played an important role in the growth and success of the business. With a commitment to actively support, mentor, and train apprentices, the business has become a desirable company for young people who are motivated to start a career in construction.

RAE Build have worked closely with Newcastle and Stafford College Group (NSCG) over the years with great success offering an extensive apprenticeship programme to over 100 young people, resulting in them gaining full time employment.

“The Apprenticeship Hub team at NSCG are second to none and work closely with us to make our apprenticeship scheme a success, helping our youngsters achieve a great work-life balance. Our apprentices learn vital practical skills in a hands-on-environment, enabling them to jump straight into the world of work, earn a real wage and pick up technical and practical skills whilst studying for a nationally recognised qualification”, said Simon Edwards, Director at RAE Build.

“We currently have 3 young people with us on the scheme at present, James Hewitt who is learning bricklaying, whilst Dan Morrison and Theo Willis are both learning carpentry, and all are excelling at learning new skills. As we approach 2024, we will be looking to offer more employment opportunities to local people through the apprenticeship scheme.

“All we really look for is young people who are keen to work hard and take every opportunity to learn. If they show willing, our team will take the time to teach them all the skills they will need. A determination to succeed in their chosen field is a must and with a positive attitude we are confident we can do the rest.

“An apprenticeship scheme is a great way to bridge the gap between finishing education and kickstarting a career and several of our apprentices have won regional and national awards for being the best of their chosen trade, whilst many others have gone on to start and grow their own highly successful building businesses,” added Simon.
