RAEBUILD successfully completed the Five Ways Primary School Replacement Classroom Building project in August 2025, delivering a modern, purpose-built teaching facility to replace an ageing classroom unit that had reached the end of its useful life. Constructed on behalf of Staffordshire County Council and Perry Hall Academy Trust, the new building provides two high-quality classrooms together with a range of supporting facilities designed to enhance the learning environment. The project has created a sustainable, energy-efficient, and accessible facility that will support pupils, staff, and the wider school community for many years to come.
The school required the replacement of an existing classroom building that had reached the end of its operational life. The brief was to provide a modern teaching facility comprising two classrooms, stores, a central entrance lobby, plant room, staff WC, accessible WC, and supporting accommodation, while maintaining the existing site layout and minimising the impact on neighbouring properties and school operations.
The new building was required to match the scale and appearance of the existing facility while significantly improving accessibility, energy efficiency, and environmental performance.
A key objective was to create a comfortable, flexible, and future-proof learning environment that met current Building Regulations and educational requirements while remaining within the project’s budget constraints.
We were appointed through the Staffordshire County Council Modular Modern Methods of Construction Framework to develop the design and deliver the project.
The new building was constructed using an insulated timber frame system with external timber cladding, incorporating off-site manufacturing techniques to improve efficiency and quality. The facility was designed to maximise natural light, ventilation, accessibility, and energy performance through the use of high-performance glazing, enhanced insulation, and level-access ramps throughout.
Working closely with Entrust, Staffordshire County Council, and the school, we managed all aspects of the design development, Building Regulations approval, and construction process. Careful site management, traffic control measures, and stakeholder engagement ensured the project was safely delivered within a live school environment with minimal disruption.
Completed in August 2025, the project has provided Five Ways Primary School with a modern, high-quality educational facility that significantly improves the learning environment for pupils and staff.
The new building offers enhanced accessibility, greater energy efficiency, improved comfort, and increased durability compared with the previous accommodation.
Delivered on programme and ready for occupation ahead of the new academic year, the facility provides flexible teaching spaces alongside modern support facilities that will serve the school for generations to come.
Through sustainable construction methods, local supply chain engagement, and effective stakeholder collaboration, the project has delivered lasting educational, social, and environmental benefits for the school and wider community.
