RAEBUILD successfully completed the refurbishment and improvement of the Tern Hill Bubble Gym, transforming a tired and deteriorating facility within a former aircraft hangar into a modern, functional and secure fitness environment. Working alongside Amey Defence Services and specialist M&E contractors, the project addressed structural defects, improved building performance and created dedicated fitness and welfare spaces to support military personnel and site users.
The existing gym facility had fallen into disrepair following years of use and required significant refurbishment to bring it up to modern standards.
The client sought to improve the condition, functionality and security of the building while creating a more welcoming environment for users.
The works needed to address structural deterioration, improve thermal efficiency and reconfigure internal spaces to better support a range of fitness activities and operational requirements.
We delivered a comprehensive refurbishment programme that addressed both the condition and functionality of the facility. Specialist concrete repairs were carried out to damaged lintels and floor areas, while new insulated suspended ceilings were installed throughout to improve thermal performance and user comfort.
A new entrance area with modern doors and a canopy was created to enhance accessibility and appearance. Internally, dedicated workout zones were formed using specialist gym flooring, mirrors and partition curtains, while the existing office and welfare facilities were refurbished.
Security improvements, including new steel doors and perimeter fencing, completed the transformation of the building into a safe, modern and efficient fitness facility.
