RAEBUILD successfully completed the Toilet Refurbishment Project at The Croft Primary School in August 2023 on behalf of Staffordshire County Council. The project involved the reconfiguration and refurbishment of existing pupil toilet facilities to create two modern, equal-sized toilet areas for boys and girls within the existing school building. Delivered during the summer holiday period, the works transformed outdated facilities into bright, durable, and easy-to-maintain spaces that better support pupil wellbeing while enhancing the overall school environment.
The project brief was to refurbish and reconfigure the existing pupil toilet facilities to create two similar-sized toilet areas for boys and girls within the existing building footprint.
Staffordshire County Council and Entrust required the works to be completed during the summer holidays to avoid disruption to teaching activities and ensure the facilities were ready for the new academic year.
The refurbishment needed to modernise the existing accommodation, improve functionality, and provide a consistent standard of facilities for all pupils. Careful planning and coordination with the school, Entrust, and specialist subcontractors were required to ensure the programme could be completed safely and efficiently within the limited holiday period.
We were appointed as Principal Contractor through the Staffordshire County Council Planned and Reactive Maintenance Framework. Working closely with Entrust and the school, we developed a programme that enabled the refurbishment works to be completed entirely within the summer break.
The project involved the removal of existing sanitaryware, cubicles, wall and floor finishes, ceilings, mechanical and electrical services, and associated fittings before reconfiguring the layout to create balanced facilities for both boys and girls. New sanitaryware, cubicles, flooring, suspended ceilings, decorations, mechanical and electrical installations were then installed.
Throughout the project, the school was consulted on specifications and finishes, ensuring the completed facilities met both operational requirements and user expectations.
Completed on 18 August 2023, ahead of the start of the new school term, the project delivered modern, attractive, and functional toilet facilities that provide equal provision for boys and girls.
The refurbishment has improved the quality, cleanliness, and usability of the facilities while creating a brighter and more welcoming environment for pupils.
Delivered on programme and within the agreed contract value, the works were completed without variation and with minimal disruption to the school community.
The upgraded facilities provide a long-term improvement to the school estate and contribute positively to pupil wellbeing, comfort, and day-to-day school life.
