RAEBUILD are pleased to of handed over the keys to a new modular building for Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND), to Rocklands School in Lichfield, which was completed in July.
Rocklands School has extensive provisions for its 135 pupils, aged from 2-11 years old. With its carefully balanced individual approach, it meets both academic needs and social/emotional needs for its pupils. All children have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) on entry to the school and the range of learning difficulties within school is extensive (e.g., SLD; MLD; PMLD; HI; VI; ASD; Dyspraxia; SEMH).
With the new building now in place, “The Hive”, has now resulted in an additional 10 places, increasing provisions to a KS2 SEMH class. This much-needed facility in the local district will make such a difference to those pupils and families, with specialised staff already in place in school to support these children with expertise in Positive Behaviour Management, Nurture, Emotional coaching and a Relational and Restorative practice approach.
The construction of this stand-alone single-storey teaching block (modular building system solution) included a single-storey timber-framed standalone unit to the north of the existing school building, which provided an additional classroom, an SEND Resource room, kitchen, meeting room and associated WC facilities. We also provided a new rubber crumb play area, with soft landscaping works.
RAEBUILD Director Simon Edwards said: “This fantastic school, with Headteacher Jane Mackin at the helm, already provides extremely high standards of care, and with their new SEN building now in place, it will bring additional benefits to all their students and families. RAEBUILD continues forward with its commitment to providing excellent facilities for those with special educational needs, and this development is a crucial part of that.”
Rocklands School Headteacher Jane Mackin said: “Few heads would say a stress-free new build, but RAEBUILD have provided just that. From start to finish the communication, professionalism, high standards cleanliness have been outstanding. Any issue was dealt with efficiently and all to our specifications. The build was even finished a day early. The class will be ready for new children to start in September which will make the difference to so many families. One happy Headteacher!”
