RAEBUILD are extremely pleased to announce the handover of a new Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) building to Merryfields School, located in the heart of Wolstanton, Staffordshire, which forms part of the Manor Hall Academy Trust.
The project was successfully delivered by RAEBUILD in partnership with the Trust, Staffordshire County Council and Entrust Education.
Merryfields School is a generic special school, providing specialist education for pupils with an Education Health and Care Plan from Nursery age to Year 6, and their main aim is to equip all pupils with skills and values required to help them reach their true potential.
The construction of the new detached building from the main school, has provided a tranquil facility, with a central teaching area, a sensory room, sensory diet area, therapy room, and small group room accommodation. In addition, improvements were made to non-teaching areas which included storage, kitchenette, accessible changing and WC facility. RAEBUILD also provided a covered walkway from the drop-off and collection point to the main door of the new facility.
The school and local community will benefit substantially from the new SEND facilities and with the new building now in place, this will result in an increase to the number of pupil places within the district, whilst supporting the raising of standards and attainment.
RAEBUILD Director Simon Edwards said: “This much-needed facility in the local district will make such a difference to these pupils and families. With exceptional, specialised staff already in place in the school to support these children, the new building will be invaluable in helping to enhance their working practices and maintaining their already high standards for all pupils with special educational needs.”
Merryfields School Headteacher Neil Brannigan said “The works carried out were to a high standard, which we were very happy with. RAEBUILD listened to our requests throughout the process and worked diligently to deliver our vision. The senior site manager was especially supportive; he spent time getting to know and understand our school and our specific requirements. The result, was an excellent working relationship, which resulted in an incredible new building to support our pupils. Thank you RAEBUILD, and thank you Matt.”
