PROJECT:
TRENTHAM COMMUNITY CENTRE. STOKE.

WORKS: CONSTRUCTION
APPROX. VALUE: £428K

This project was located within the grounds of Trentham High School, located off Allerton Road, Trentham. There is an adjacent Primary School located at the opposite side of the school grounds from the development. The school is completely enclosed by a residential estate, with the construction of the new community centre bordering residential gardens. Neighbour consultation took place and existing access routes into the school had to be maintained close to the construction operations.

The construction works were to erect a new single storey steel framed community centre with insulated steel and wall cladding and aluminium screen glazing. Key to the success of building performance was the ventilation strategy developed with the client team. Underfloor heating was installed. Main services including drainage were diverted way from the footprint of the building.

SUCCESSFULLY MANAGED.

A new electrical main was installed by Western Power Distribution and a new gas main was brought on to the site by Fulcrum Connections. These installations involved excavations on the main driveway into the school, and access was co-ordinated to ensure that these were completed safely and without significant disruption to the school.

As the construction works were taking place in such proximity to existing residential housing, and on occupied school premises a high level of sensitivity was employed, and particularly in relation to noise and dust generated by construction operations. This was briefed and successfully managed.
